Safety and Security
Awareness Brief for International Visitors to the Hatfield Campus
The University of Pretoria welcomes all international visitors attending the conference on the Hatfield Campus. Your safety and security remain a priority throughout your visit.
All visitors are requested to wear their conference accreditation or visitor access card visibly at all times and to remain within the designated conference, parking and hospitality areas. Please follow the instructions of University security officers, conference marshals and event staff.
Visitors are encouraged to remain alert, safeguard personal belongings, and avoid leaving laptops, bags, passports, mobile phones or other valuables unattended. When moving around campus, use recognised pedestrian routes, avoid isolated areas, and travel in groups where possible, especially after hours.
Please take care when crossing streets around the campus due to high vehicle and pedestrian movement. Vehicles should only be parked in designated parking areas, and valuables must not be left visible inside vehicles.
Any suspicious behaviour, unattended items, medical emergencies, safety concerns or security incidents must be reported immediately to the nearest security officer, conference organiser or University representative.
In the event of an emergency, visitors must remain calm and follow evacuation instructions from security personnel, marshals and emergency services. Do not re-enter any evacuated area until authorised to do so.
The University appreciates your cooperation in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming conference environment.
