Transportation from Airport

The airport Arturo Merino Benítez or Nuevo Pudahuel is located in the northwest area of Santiago, Chile. You can see the airport map here. It has different options for connecting to the central region of the city. We recommend using official taxi transportation or shuttle transfer services. Buses from the airport to the main metro stations are also available.

For directions, use Google Maps and the airport’s transport webpage.

Public Transportation

The Metro of Santiago is the city’s principal public transport system. Its network spans 140 kilometers across six lines, with 136 stations located in 23 districts. Access the official website for more information or check out the map. You can follow directions to any destination using Google Maps.

Trains run approximately every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 15 minutes on Sundays. On weekdays, Metro operates between 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Saturdays; the opening is at 6:30 AM, and at 8:30 AM on Sundays and public holidays. Transfer between lines closes at 10:30 PM.

Fares

To use the Metro service, you’ll need to purchase a "Tarjeta bip" card, which is the payment method for the Metropolitan Mobility Network (covering buses, Metro, and MetroTren Nos). This contactless card that can be used by anyone in possession of it. However, it cannot be blocked if lost or stolen. The card costs CLP $1,550 (card only) and is available at Bip! Centers, Metro ticket offices, and authorized retailers. Before using it for the first time, you must load it with cash. Reloads have a minimum amount of CLP $750, in increments of CLP $10. Some metro stations have machines that accept credit cards, but not every station, so it’s best to have cash to load the metro card.

Santiago Metro is connected to bus services within the city's public transportation network, and the Tarjeta bip! card allows for integrated fare transfers between Metro and buses. With this system, users can transfer up to three times between buses and the Metro within a two-hour period at no extra charge, as long as they stay within the integrated network. The Red Metropolitana de Movilidad bus system crosses 34 municipalities of the Metropolitan Region. Buses run in parallel with metro stations and across the city. Check the network buses here.
